When we think of a minimalist interior scheme, we think cold harsh and bare. The modern minimalist designs of today are a lot softer and easy to live with & maintain. Even if you have a family!

It is true that you do really need to be a certain kind of person to get on well with a minimalist interior scheme! If you find it easy to stay neat and tidy, and are very organised, it’s very likely this look will work for you.

A minimalist interior design scheme is a very simple, relaxing style, which will bring tranquility and ambience to your home. It also has a great cutting-edge, contemporary stylised feel too.

Colour

White is often the first colour to use in your minimalist scheme, however if you are after a softer look go for warm neutral colours. Try stone, browns, beige, and off whites.
Your base colour should be interesting but subtle. You can add a splash of colour with home decor such as Pillows, Vases, Wall Art, Ottomans or Mirrors.

Only choose one colour, or colour group, for your accent colour.
Bright red is a good choice, or any other bright hue. (Red works especially well with your grey/white/black scheme)
Check out our range of red home decor.
We recommend the Red Cradle Bowl, Ghost Candelabra, and Goth Candle Holder.
As an alternative, choose a darker natural tone. For example, if you have a stone wall colour, choose a warm chocolate brown as your accent colour. We recommend the Chocolate Clipper Vase.

Handy Tips to remember

1. Keep it clean & tidy

2. Choose a colour palette that will enhance your scheme

3. Choose low line furniture to add to your contemporary modern feel

4. Use colour sparingly with accent home decor

5. Choose furniture options with inbuilt storage to hide away clutter

Your modern minimalist space will not only be mouth-watering stylish, but you will be rewarded with a relaxing, tranquil home!

Create interest in your home…

Filed under: Handy Tips — admin @ 10:51 pm

In the home we find that the most common decorating mistake is the “saturation” of the same colour, or colour tones. When your space is drowned in the same colour or tone, its easy to create a space that is dull and monotonous.
When decorating the key to consider your colour pallette and what mood you would like to create with colour.
A great place to start is a colour wheel. Start by selecting complimentary colours. Its a no fail way to get colour right in your home.

Try mixing up bold hues and prints to add interest. However don’t go overboard, as too much accessorising can create clutter and confusion.

Designer Tip:
Blue vases & accessories are really taking off this season they are a great way to add a touch of interest to your space. Check out the Africana Pose Range, Body Vase or Cone Vase.
